Monroe SF
Nestled in Little Italy, a buzzing neighborhood of San Francisco, is Monroe SF, a nightclub redesigned with an art deco style at a location dripping in history.
Monroe SF is found in downtown San Francisco in the Jazz Workshop building, utilized for years by legends such as Miles Davis and Johnny Coltrane for performances and live album recordings, and a historical marker was placed on the property in 2018. This area has been the site of premier clubs for decades. By day, Monroe SF is a chic lounge; by night, it transforms into an electrifying nightclub.
Designer Mitra Gholami of Deleap turned to Cortina Leathers to help implement their era-encapsulating design. The stunning curved banquette in the VIP booth section is upholstered in miles of Athene in Erica, a unique shade of dark pink.
Athene is a jewel among Cortina's collections. Inspired by the most desirable handbags from Milan’s exclusive fashion houses, Athene has a stunning clarity and depth of color, a glamorous high sheen, and a unique micro-crackle for a softly aged appearance. She definitively says: Italian luxury. Explore.
Designer Testimonial
“Surrounded by vibrant bars and restaurants, Monroe SF’s art-deco style truly stands out,” says designer Mitra Gholami, founder and owner of design firm Deleap of Los Angeles. She added, “Many details went into enveloping the essence of the era. We played with textures and vibrant colors to highlight the lounge’s soaring raw brick elements.”
“The heat and shine of the leather contrasted with a striking gold leaf wall immediately draws all eyes to the far end of the space,” said Ms. Gholami. Cortina’s Athene collection, inspired by the most sought-after products from Milan’s exclusive fashion houses, has a modern, fresh look with a smooth, glossy, and softly cracked finish. Athene’s coupling of functionality and allure was the perfect selection to capture attention.
